ColWear 62-1 Replaces AR400 Plates as Feed Chute Liners in Waste to Energy Plant

Five ColWear 62-1 Plates have been successfully welded onto Feed Chutes at a Waste to Energy Plant, replacing AR400 Plates.

Chutes in Waste to Energy Plants face significant wear challenges. In this case, AR400 Plates required replacement every 5 years due to the abrasive properties of the waste material, driving up maintenance costs and impacting efficiency. To address this, the customer sought to extend the service life of this critical area of the plant and increase their output.

They opted for ColWear 62-1 Plates due to its superior hardness (55-64 HRC), abrasion and impact resistance and, proven capability of extending lifetime well beyond the industry standard. The five ColWear 62-1 Plates were welded into the chutes with a 2mm coating on a 4mm plate - 1200mm x 800mm with the coated area being 1150mm x 750mm.
