Wall Colmonoy Limited (UK) are pleased to announce their latest investment - a new state-of-the-art Horizon 1000 CNC CMM Machine for their UK machining facility. With a smooth and frictionless motion to elevate fast contact scanning and a first-term accuracy specification of under 2 microns, the Horizon CMM machine will provide advanced, accuracy, faster speeds and tighter tolerances for Wall Colmonoy’s Precision Cast and Machined Components.
The Horizon CMM breaks new ground in design and innovation due to the use of frictionless linear drives - the key to its fast and smooth motion. These linear motors are no contact and therefore have no wearing parts – reducing maintenance time and improving reliability and cycle times for Wall Colmonoy’s UK machine shop. This capability will support multiple precision components in varying complexity across industries such as Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Aerospace, Offshore Wind, Renewables, Food Processing and Packaging and Steel.
“Continuous advancements in the design and manufacture of technologies drives the need for more complex components. The Horizon CMM 1000, will give us the measuring capability we need to meet these complex requirements - supporting our customers whilst still maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and quality control” states Michael Shreeve, Business Unit Manager, Precision Components.
The CMM machine is controlled by a high specification PC with 3D geometric software. The software draws features as they are measured, allowing dimensions to be added exactly as they appear on component drawings.
