Earth Day 2020

Earth Day is celebrating 50 years this year and the theme is Climate Change.

Climate change and greenhouse gas emissions are currently a major concern.  Governments around the world are taking serious stances - implementing guidelines and restrictions to push industry to reduce emissions and their impact.

As such, we wanted to highlight some of the ways our products are helping to:

  • Reduce emissions
  • Improve fuel economy
  • Consume less energy
  • And overall – create longer lasting parts

Efficient Combustion, Lower Energy Consumption and Longer Lasting Parts

Heat Exchangers for Aerospace, Energy and Defense

Aerobraze Engineered Technologies, a division of Wall Colmonoy, specializes in the manufacture of new design and overhaul of Fin & Plate and Tube & Shell Type Heat Transfer Equipment for aerospace, energy and defense industries.

Wall Colmonoy’s Aerobraze Oklahoma City manufactures aluminum and stainless heat exchangers to be used in Commercial and Military aircraft to keep cabins cool.  Commercial aircraft includes CRJ-700, 900, ERJ-170, ERJ-190, Boeing 737, Cessna Citation 680 just to name a few.  Military aircraft include US Air Force (USAF) F-15 and F-16 fighter jets.

Nicrocraft™ Aircraft Exhaust Systems

Wall Colmonoy manufactures aircraft mufflers and parts for Piston Engines used for Beechcraft, Cessna, Cirrus, Piper aircrafts. Nicrocraft™ aircraft exhaust systems are built to take the heat and last longer in service.

Reducing Emissions & Improving Fuel Economy

SCRs, DPFs, EGRs, Catalytic Convertors, Fuel Cells and Heat Exchangers

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filler), Exhaust Gas Recirculation units (EGRs), Catalytic Converters, Fuel Cells and Heat Exchangers for aerospace, automotive and HVAC industries reduce emissions and improve fuel economy. Wall Colmonoy manufactures Nicrobraz® (nickel-based) brazing products, which are used extensively in the manufacture of these products.

With today’s tighter worldwide emissions, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is the latest advancement in reducing emissions for diesel engines.  SCRs for diesel engines convert Nitrous Oxides (NOx) into Nitrogen (N2) and Water (H20).  It often works with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) which removes diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine.  Soot is produced when diesel engines burn fuel, but a DPF captures this soot to prevent the release of harmful exhaust emissions.

EGRs are also commonly deployed in diesel engines to reduce the concentration of NOx.  EGRs are usually brazed under high vacuum conditions using nickel-based filler metals to achieve good metallurgical bonding. Read about Nicrobraz® and EGRs in Nicrobraz News Issue.

A catalytic converter is an emissions control device that converts toxic gases and pollutants in exhaust gas to less toxic pollutants by catalyzing a redox reaction (an oxidation and a reduction reaction).
