Welsh Government Visit Wall Colmonoy Limited (UK)

The Welsh Governments Economy Minister, Vaughan Gething MS, had his first company site visit on Thursday, 27 May since entering his new role.

Wall Colmonoy Limited (UK)'s Managing Director, Robert Davies and the European Senior Management Team, led the members of Welsh Government around the site which included a tour of the state-of-the-art R&D laboratory, and Additive Manufacturing Innovation Space.

Having recently received a near £150k of Welsh Government support funding for improvements to the Castings facility, Wall Colmonoy was provided the opportunity to present the Welsh Government with their vision for continued growth, which will benefit the local Welsh economy.

Robert Davies, Managing Director of Wall Colmonoy Limited (UK) states, “The latest investment safeguards the employment of highly skilled jobs at Wall Colmonoy’s European Headquarters in Pontardawe; ensures the facility meets environmental best practices and improves our capacity and capability.

“The investment puts us on the leading edge of cast alloy melting technology and helps us facilitate our drive for innovative growth to meet the increase in global demand for our castings. It also provides long-term security of all employees and the local community. We’re proud of our close relationship with the Welsh Government and thank them for their continued support over the past fifty years.”

Wall Colmonoy has made its own significant investment in recent years which has included a state-of the-art research laboratory, advancements to existing alloy manufacturing technology, new machinery like a 5-Axis Milling Machine, and its latest entrance into Additive Manufacturing with the purchase of a binder jet printer - Desktop Metal™ Shop System™.

The Welsh Governments interest and support is of high value to Wall Colmonoy, who hope the continued funding into new areas and industries will create more opportunity for business, collaboration, and jobs.
