Aerobraze Engineered Technologies, Oklahoma City, a division of Wall Colmonoy, is proud to announce another successful collaboration with long-time customer, Robinson Helicopter, taking concept from design to prototype to production.
The strategic partnership formed between AET OKC and Robinson’s leading engineers led to the design and manufacturing of turbine exhaust ducting installed on the R66 and its Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft engine. The team discovered that using high-temperature nickel brazing, originally invented by Wall Colmonoy, led to a significant weight reduction for the engine – while continuing to maintain optimal strength of the assembly.
For over a decade, Wall Colmonoy has been the exclusive exhaust system supplier to Robinson for their R22 and R44 piston engine powered models. This history and close collaboration between AET OKC and Robinson leading engineers made this superior design development possible.
Wall Colmonoy Aerobraze Engineered Technologies congratulates Robinson Helicopter for completing the FAA certification process on October 25, 2010 for this new turbine powered R66 – making this five-seat aircraft the largest in the Robinson fleet.
John Sturch, AET Vice President, noted: “We are very pleased with the success of this design effort which was due to the fine cooperation between the engineering staffs at Robinson and AET.”
